We are looking for a Certified Medical Assistant Full Time


Administrative: Works under the direction of the administrative manager on non clinical matters. Responsible for pleasant and effective communication with the public promoting positive office image.

 

Clinical: Responsible for the rendering of basic supervised nursing care to patients in this facility in support of the physicians and the physicians assistant. Maintains accurate and up to date integration of patient data within the clinic EMR to allow efficient review on demand. During patient office appointments serves to establish and maintain quality, confidential patient care.

 

Job duties:

  • May assist in integrating data from incoming reports into the appropriate EMR module on a daily basis in an efficient and accurate manner. Photocopies records for consultations or referrals as directed by supervisor/MD

     

  • Assists the physician in direct patient contact by providing instructions under the direct instruction of physician.

     

  • Retrieves information for medical records. Updates and maintains medical records in preparation for patient appointment, and is responsible for routing incoming patient data to physician for evaluation/review, and also responsible for maintaining (along with clinical professional nurse) computerized update of clinical problem list.

     

  • May order refills of prescriptions at the time of clinic appointment with the physician’s permission and supervision. May assist as liaison between pharmaceutical representatives and physician and physician assistant.

     

  • Places patient in the examination rooms and preparing patient for examination by the physician or the physician assistant. Takes and records routine elements of systemic reviews: elements of patients history, elements of present illness. Takes vital signs of the patients, which include weight and height, temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure. Performs these duties in a timely and accurate manner to ensure efficient clinical flow.

     

  • Assists the physician in procuring laboratory samples, such as capillary blood samples, urine samples, performs laboratory functions, which may include such as urinalysis, Rapid Strep, Microprobe, H. pylori. Testing performed per posted laboratory protocol.

     

  • Assists the physician with the treatment of the patient in the examination room and office, which may include IM injections,immunizations, suture removal, throat cultures, first aid treatment, pap and pelvic examinations, breast examinations, among others.

     

  • May assist receptionist in answering telephone. Processes or refers incoming telephone calls to the appropriate administrative or clinical staff member for processing.

     

  • Assists in keeping inventory and notifies clinical professional nurse when medical/drug supplies need to be ordered. Maintains inventory of necessary medical/examination supplies needed for each of the examination rooms.

     

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the professional nurse, physician or physician assistant.

EDUCATION AND JOB REQUIREMENTS

 

  • Must possess high school diploma or GED. Must possess current licensure.

     

    Must be self disciplined and self motivated to complete required job duties in a timely and accurate manner to ensure efficient clinical flow.

     

    Must possess a preference for performing services that will benefit and help people.

     

    Must possess a sense of discipline to work in accordance with accepted nursing and medical standards.

     

    Must possess the social and verbal ability to understand patient’s medical records, physician’s directions and to be communicative with the physician, patient and co-workers.

     

    Must possess the ability to deal tactfully and effectively with patients (and their families), coworkers, hospital staff and physician.
