Job Title:         Clinical Registered Nurse

Job Summary

Working under the direction of the Practice Manager, the Clinical Registered Nurse will provide oversight to the clinic’s assigned staff. Duties include planning, coordinating, assigning, supervising and managing the work of professional and non-professional nursing personnel engaged in performing nursing services. May provide guidance to administrative staff under direction of practice manager as it pertains to daily workflow.  Assess patient health problems and needs, develop and implement nursing care plans, and maintain medical records. May advise patients on health maintenance and disease prevention or provide case management.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensures staff accountability in meeting patient needs, supporting providers, and fellow team members.
  • Provides oversight of day-to-day processes and expectations of assigned staff
  • Collaborates with colleagues and with Practice Manager in development and achievement of departmental team goals and objectives.
  • Plans and assists with implementation of assigned staff training, competency training and assessment, mentoring, coaching and evaluation.
  • Ensures assigned staff is trained in current services and procedures for competency and best practice.
  • Ensures nurses are meeting safety and regulatory guidelines as mandated by the clinic or hospital or governing agencies.
  • Ensures proper supplies and equipment are accessible and maintained at all times.
  • Schedules assigned staff to ensure appropriate coverage, including coverage for approved and/or unexpected absences.
  • Provides direct patient care to meet the clinics’ and the patients’ needs under direction of medical providers.
  • Efficient time management and prioritization skills utilized in all functions.
  • Plans and facilitates monthly clinical staff meetings as directed by the Practice Manager.
  • Ensures all documentation and paperwork is complete, accurate, and timely.
  • Delegates tasks to assigned staff appropriately and supervises follow-up.
  • Participates with the Practice Manager in the functions of recruiting staff as requested.
  • Reviews and finalized all assigned staff time and attendance records.
  • Monitors use of sick time and overtime on an ongoing basis and takes appropriate action to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the clinic.
  • Maintains effective communication with all staff and providers. Continually strives to establish and maintain good rapport and working relationships to foster positive intra- and inter- departmental communications.
  • Employs tact, courtesy, and a positive attitude at all times, with patients, physicians, visitors and coworkers.
  • Provides reports and summaries to Practice Manager as needed or requested.
  • Ensures assigned staff understands and adheres to Minidoka Memorial Hospital and clinic   policies and procedures.
  • Assists Practice Manager in maintaining compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.
  • Acts as super user and resource for EHR.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality at all times, discussing patient, clinic or hospital business only when appropriate to provide quality patient care and adheres to HIPAA regulations.
  • Provides service excellence through customer satisfaction surveys, personally and through all clinical staff. 
  • Medical and surgical asepsis is carried out during treatments and special procedures.
  • Ensure effective tracking of test results, medication management, and adherence to follow-up appointments.
  • Maintains an effective internal tracking system for identified patients.
  • Assists in answering clinic telephone calls in a professional manner; relays patient information and concerns to attending physician.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Practice Manager.

  2. Must be able to multitask and remain positive regardless of external pressure.

Minimum Requirements

  • Associates Degree or higher in Nursing of an accredited school of nursing and holds current licensure in the state as a registered professional nurse
  • One (1) year experience in the ambulatory, physician/medical clinic setting
  • BLS Certification
  • Must be able to pass any and all background checks required by law

  • Ability to identify and implement appropriate patient communication strategies and overcome accessibility barriers, as required.
  • Proficient in communication technologies (email, cell phone, etc.).
  • Effective organizational skills and demonstrates ability to maintain accurate notes and records.
  • Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
